Shell lamination loose?

I’ve got a 70 year old Mediterranean spur thigh male tortoise. We’ve had him for about 10 years. He seems perfectly ok. But some of his lower scales on the side of his shell have delaminated, slightly it’s seems like a thin wafer thin layer. Is this serious in a tortoise of his age?

He’s asleep right now we’ll send one tomorrow. He’s had these kind of delaminations since before we had him so could it be something he did more than 10 years ago?
