Shopping list for a newbie

This is massivly off topic I know
But I was having an argument at my college the other day about the possibility of using a fibreglass pond linner as a tortoise habitat

Would it work obviously not full of water but as a large and deep base for digging surely it would work right

It's the floor area that's important. And it needs to be flat.

Some people use a kiddy pool as an enclosure outdoors, so I don't see why it wouldn't work.

The problem with fibreglass is the smell. (I used to do a lot of kayaking!) It's very distinctive and lingers. I'm not sure I'd want it under hot lamps indoors.

Sounds about right. 35C directly under the basking lamp.

Al temperatures should be measured on the floor at tortoise level.

A temperature gun like this is not particularly expensive and most accurate
