I may have missed it,but are they giving them back to you? Maybe if you present them with a bill for their care they will just say keep them.

Lol that's what I normally do.

Update.
They are all eating and soaking on their own, the tongues are not so yellowish and the noise from their breathing has improved, but I want to keep them until they can come out of the vivarium without heating on, it's actually about 30 celcius here outside.

Well i am goig to give them a test sheet,
All about temps, UVA/B, food, substrate, hides, vits and minerals, What to look for when they are ill.
I am doing my own care sheet at the moment for greeks as they are the most common here, although they are illegal. When it is finished i will post it to see what you guys think, just in case i missed something.

Today i have got to go and pick up some tortoise eggs, wouldnt mind but the guy is a perv. :( Going to put a lock and chain around my pants :D

Yvonne...I am in a small way also involved in rescue and treat sick tortoises, would you mind telling me why soaks 5 times a day? Isn't once a day enough? I personally wouldn't soak more than once a day, maybe once more with babyfood. They either drink then or they don't. Am I missing something here? I am not trying to criticize you, I am simply trying to learn...I am always looking for a better way...:):tort:

If i am treating an illness and have to up the temps i like to make absolutely sure that they are hydrated, so that i can administer antibiotics, Maybe i do excessive soaks but they are never more than 5/10 mins at a time.

Its just that i lost a tort once because i upped the temps and only soaked once a day when he was on antibiotics, He died of renal failure, that day i swore to myself that it would never happen again, Maybe i am over protective, but when they are ill they look so vulnerable.
I guess we all have our own methods and this is my method to my madness :D

Thanks guys for all the support.
I am glad to say that all 4 torts are doing fantastic, they are all eating and running about.
They have all been returned to their owner, after i went and checked the new enclosure for them in their garden.
But i will be keeping a close eye on them from now on.

HI
Great job on nursing them back to health
I was about to suggest force feeding the torts as I have a friend that has rescues many many sick torts and she makes up a mash of anything good for them and opens their mouths and feeds them with a syringe until they do it alone. Also I personally had 2 very sick tortoise -they came to me sick as hatchlings (long story) but I did soak the babies in veg and fruit juice alone so if they took any in it would keep them going a bit longer.

One went back to the place I got it from as they thought they could do better-well in their care it died.I did get the other one to full health and my replacement flew in from another province with frost on its shell-she did have a rough start too but slowly got over it.

These animals go through so much, they deserve to be treated like royalty!!

Anyway
SOOO pleased:D:D:D you have some healthy tortoises now, enjoy them

Louise
