Not silly at all. Depends on species and age. For a baby sulcata or leopard I keep the entire enclosure warm and humid 24/7. If memory serves, you have a young Western Hermann's. Someone who keeps those should advise you of the specifics that best suit them.
I keep th opposite end from his hotspot moist and cool for my Russians. They have the choice to be dry or moist. Mediterranean species like ours like to b able to cool down during the night and I found trying to keep the warm end moist kept the humidity up way too high in the entire enclosure.
I have adults though and I believe babies can be kept in a more humid environment. There are several breeders of Mediterranean torts that will prob chime in on this Have u truer any choir yet?
