This week, my Smart Enclosure from Mark Wilson finally arrived!
Summary: It is amazing! The engineering is superb with everything fitting like a well worn glove. It is super well built, beyond my expectations. It was super easy to set up and the hardest part was building a sturdy stand to put it on.
It is very heavy. Below are photos of half of the units I ordered. Originally, I ordered three 4x3 units that I could attach into a 12 foot by 3 foot enclosed chamber. At the last minute, I added another 4x3 so I could have a smaller unit for my hatchlings in a few months. Then once it all arrived I decided to make two separate 8x3s.
The shipping container weighed about 550 pounds! So each 8 foot enclosure is about 250 pounds! Very well built double walled construction complete with heat pads on the ceiling, led lighting, Arcadia t5 set up and basking bulbs all with a built in timer, humidity and temperature settings all set up and ready to go. Plug and play. I will be setting up the lighting and smart phone app tomorrow and this weekend starting on the second enclosure set up.
Seriously, this is a perfect set up and I can’t believe for many years I was building my own inadequate ones when this was available.
I love it! I am sure my tortoises will love those winter home as well as the new hatchlings that are coming soon. By mid 2026, I should have some smooth leopards for anyone that is into that sort of thing!!
