Is it yours? I have a baby common too but I want an alligator snapping turtle!

No. Not mine. This one was crossing a field going from one pond to another. I took a few photos then left it be.

Snappers are so pudgy and adorable
They can really be mean, though... still, doesn't stop you from enjoying them.

We have a lot around here, and occasionally i am lucky enough to see a big one walking around.
Why does the back of his shell look like that? Just grime? Around here they sometimes are partly covered in red clay mud.

Yes, actually i have only seen 3 walking around in the past 20 years. This one walked across my property in 2011. I did not note moss or algae on any of them.

That's a nice, fat Florida Snapper. Love their look, compared to their former subspecies..
