Soaking spot for Elvis and Murphy

So I was thinking of using a plastic container but I decided I wanted a more organic looking bathing spot. I'm thinking of digging a shallow pond using a liner. I was planning on putting river rock around it. Suggestions please.

Would it be OK to line the pond with river rock or should I use something else. Ideas

I think river rock is fine as long as there is a gradual decline into the pond?? This is an amateur opinion though and I’d definitely wait for a few more[emoji16]
