I am looking into adopting my first tortoise! I'm very excite and talking with people on this forum has helped solidify my decision, I plan on building my indoor enclosure because by the time I can adopt it will begin to be a little cooler here in vermont. I have found an idea for a tortoise table that I think looks great, however I want to start out right and would love to hear ideas. I have means of building a structure like what is featured. I know there are heater and light not easily seen in the photo that are required but I'd would love some input from experienced tortoise owners! (I know the enclosure is intended for a red foot but would the design work for a Russian?) ImageUploadedByTortForum1374116255.176563.jpg

The design is good, except that the whole one side is transparent which could stress a tortoise. Other than that, it looks good.

That design should work great! I can't tell the dimensions, but if you make it large enough, it'll be awesome for a Russian!

If you have to keep a Russian in an indoor enclosure, I'd suggest you make it an L shape.

Similar to this one should be fine.

Thanks so much for the input, I had read it was better for the tortoise to not be able to see out which makes sense!

P.s I may have found my Russian!!ImageUploadedByTortForum1374152846.856255.jpg

Sorry, sent it instead of correcting spelling.

When I put large house plants in front of the habitats it offers screening to the tortoises. I can see them from a distance without having to approach and look down at them, and they feel secure. They do seem to mind when that cover is entirely removed. The UVB light comes through the plexiglass & helps the plants in the winter, too.

My boxies are perfectly happy without that plant cover.
