SONshine has had a good clutch of eggs from last December late! It was a 6 egg clutch and 5 have hatched. These 4 are out and waiting to take their first bite of 'real' food. They hatched in late April.. with the other still absorbing his yolk-sac now.

Aw what a bunch of cuties.
Nice shot of the egg tooth, there was no way that little one wasn't going to hatch.
How long does it usually take for the egg tooth to disappear or is it an individual thing.
Perfect little babies, I still can't wrap my head around it that they are folded
in half inside the egg. Wondrous piece of work that is.

Oh dear, someone pulled my leg on that one.
Thanks for clearing up that piece of misinformation.

Actually Sue a little less than half of the egg is taken up by "yolk" and a small air-pocket.. the rest of course is the baby itself. You may see a crease on the carapace just behind the head from time to time.. in case you ever wondered.

Wait til you see their colors after a few weeks!

One of my 'keepers' from '07.. from one of my Colombian females -

Baby tortoises just look so perfect and beautiful. I never get tired of looking at high quality pics like this.

I'm still not convinced that you know what you are doing Terry. Maybe its just beginners luck.
