Good evening everyone!

It's been a pleasant day here and I have seen lots of butterflies including Red Admirals, Hedge Browns, Whites, Holly Blues and Marbled Whites (I also think I saw Jersey Tiger Moth flying) anyway when I went around the side of the flat to get the washing in I noticed the feather below lying on the ground and I believe it belongs to a passing Sparrowhawk! I have seen them in Westcliff before and they used to turn up at the old house where I finding one of them feeding on a pigeon!

Dear Natrah and everyone - I think my eye op has gone pretty well, though it will be a little while before it catches up with the previous one - the vision was worse in this new one anyway. I have been really shaky and tired, but can't sleep much, and get confused about things a lot - luckily Richard is here to see I get my eye drops at the right intervals, and Zola has been very comforting . I have now got some cheap reading glasses, which is great - I can see to read again ! Also I have a new watch - identical to the broken one ( I think being a teacher, and having to be constantly aware of the time, has left me feeling uneasy without a watch, even now!) I don't have a mobile phone to tell me the time - I would probably mislay it or drop it, but a watch stays on my arm safely. Zola went out with Richard, and met some Norwegians, who were really delighted to see him - I don't think tortoises are common pets there.
How lovely that you have so many butterflies, Natrah - we really don't get as many as I would hope, despite the garden being full of flowers.

Good evening everyone!

Below are the temperatures at about 10.30 am this morning! I'm glad we air con at the shop eventhough it was still warm. I'm glad you're recovering very well Angie you'll be able to enjoy all those beautiful flowers in your garden now. I hope you're all okay in the heat although I daren't complain too much because @Cathie G and @MenagerieGrl are even hotter.

Dickie do you like being picked up? I'm afraid I was in a bit of a mood because I kicked and shoved Natrah when she picked me up and when the neighbour he thought I was going to bite him! I was also told that I should be a bit more polite like Zola!!!!

No I don’t like being picked up because it usually means I’m going to have a bath! I had 3 baths this morning, the first I wee’d in, the second I poo’d in & by the third I had had enough water & did my best to escape the sink.
I’m not eating much, are you? I think it’s because it’s too hot. I seek out shady places or damp soil beneath plants. How are you coping? It makes me moody too

We've been having temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius and today I am considering leaving this evening's rehearsal because I don't have time to come home from accompanying my pupils for their exams and teaching to freshen up. I feel I need to freshen up before going to rehearsal otherwise I won't feel like playing.

Yes it will be pretty hot today & having to concentrate on the rehearsal in the evening will be difficult, having had a day of it already.
My people have called to cancel my cleaning today (thank goodness).
We think Dickie is having a summer mini hibernation. Apparently it is a thing & this explains how she is at the moment. Pete said the tortoise vet mentioned it last year when he took her to see him.

I think it is going to be pretty hot here too - we were thinking of going to Torquay,and maybe having a ride on tne big wheel there,and our favourite Hanbury's fish and chips to eat overlooking the sea (not for Zola) -but I am quite wobbly, and my eye is still recovering, so it probably isn't the best thing to do. ( I think my eye is doing ok,though, and the other one is pretty good now )
Zola was pleased that you think he is polite, Natrah - you have never seen him in a cross mood, but he can be very strong and fierce, actually !

Hey Zola and Edward! I remembered your birthday it was on my mom‘s calendar in her phone. Only thing is she was at work and we tried to send you a happy birthday message but by the time MOM got home we were already sleeping. We are so sorry we missed it and we had it on our calendar yesterday for yesterday so we didn’t know but we miss you. We love you. We hope you got to see your rocks and we hope you got a lot of nice presence and a good stroke that night MOM’s not getting her emails to tell her when to come onto this thread so we have to remind her cause she’s old and of course there’s a lot going on. Thank you so much, dear Chef - it's lovely to hear from you, and very kind of Sally, Squirt, and Sylvia (and Gary) to remind you about our birthdays. Zola has had an especially good time, with lots of people wishing him a Happy Birthday. He is 26 years old now, and full of energy - many people are impressed by his
walking ! He is still very kind to his poor old mum, though, who is wobbling around a bit after her cataract operation a week ago.
