Can it be reused or you just throw it away?
Good question. Mine normally gets mixed in with the coir over time then I add more fresh.
I found that mixing it in with coir makes the substrate hold moisture for longer and it stops the coir being so messy.
However if you are going to recycle your spaghnum I would soak it in boiling water out of the kettle first to clean it, When it's cool enough just squeeze out the excess water.

I have reused it for the same tortoises by soaking in hot water and wringing it out.

I buy new moss if it's needed for a different tortoise.

I only use the sphagnum but Im considering mixing it with the coir for the basking area. My main concern is cleaning it from the turtle's waste.

Spin it in a salad spinner. Lay it out in the sun. On 200 in the oven.

Can you just pick the poop out by hand first?
