star tortoises

Happy new years!
it seems like as babies, star tortoises have nice smooth shells. but the older ones have bumpy shells!

do they naturally have bumpy shells or are they really prone to pyramiding? i know nothing about stars and am not thinking of getting one

I have a few and SOME do tend to have a natural pyramided look, depending on which locale they are from. However don't get this confused with a pyramided tortoise. There is a clear distinction between a natural look and pyramided tortoise.

oh, thanks for clearing this up. i did notice how the raised parts were more pointy and didnt look like pyramiding
