hey guys I've posted about Tortellini's growth recently. so far he hasn't changed much but his shell is getting softer and I'm thinking that it might be a calcium issue. . . im going to the vet in the next day or two but wanted to know what you guys thought
i give him exo terra multi vitamin at least 4 days a week and just bought an extra exo terra calcium d3 supplement
i give him organic spring mix, hibiscus, grass and mazuri
as far as i know none of these block calcium but i cant think of another explanation because i give him plenty of calcium
for those of you who dont know and read this Tortellini is about 7 months old and is still only 2 1/2 in and 43-47 grams
what do you guys think about the calcium blocker?

All the calcium in the world doesn't do your tortoise any good unless he also gets UVB from the sun. The UV is converted in the tortoise's body to vitamin d3 and these two things, the vitamin and the calcium, work together. Without the vitamin, the calcium just gets pee'd out.

I have never put my faith in oral vitamin d3 and choose to use the sun for my animals.
