Hello! I am finishing up my tortoise insulated house. I am going to have a kane mat and rhp on one side. The house is 3’x3’. Do I need to put a substrate down or under the kane mat? Or just leave the bare plywood? Thank you!!

The bare wood is fine. You can also do a substrate just not on top of the heating elements

I use a thin layer of dry dirt in a set up like that. It absorbs messes and makes clean up easier.
