I have my sulcata on dirt he seems to be doing just fine . He gets a soaking twice a week. I have tried other substrates but don't like it. He is only on this in the winter months during the other months he is usually outside on dirt in a big grassy yard. What does any one think is this ok

I have taken him to the vet and he said he has a little pyramiding but not bad. I do not want him to eat anything that is going to make him sick. I give him a good soaking twice a week. What is your tortoise box look like. Mine is 4'x6'.

How old is you tort? I use a mix of soil, peat moss, spag. moss, and a little playsand. Funny thing about nature - lots of dirt :)

Do you have pics?

Pyramiding cannot be 'cured', but you can stop the process and get your tort more healthy. The more you can show us and tell us about his care, the better we can help.

This is some good reading related to helping keep your little tort hydrated and shell forming correctly:

i make sure his substrate is somewhat moist- till its around 70-75% humidity in there for my sulcatas. defently putting some sphagnum moss in there helps alot.
