Im moving to a new house and was wondering what kind of succulents you guys use for an outdoor enclosure that are tort safe. I would like to make them a beautiful enclosure with some beautilul succelents. The only thing Im thinking about with this move is making the torts a nice enclosure. Ive been putting it off at my current house because I know were moving and it would be a waste of time. Would appreciate your suggestions. They are 3 to 4 inch torts

Hi Ed:

Anything in the crassula family is fine (jade plant). Also anything in the kalanchoe family. Aloe vera is good. Naturally, there's the opuntia, but I prefer the spineless for my tortoises. Don't plant any of the euphorbia. They are all toxic. I have some haworthia in my baby pens. The plant is tough and they can't eat it, but it looks nice.

Ya Im taking notes to, Im going to corona cactus nursery on the weekend with my mom who is a cactus freak. Looking for some cactus and succulents. My mom said she didnt want to go but I told her she didnt have a choice. She will be sitting in her chair ready to go about 5 hours before Im going to pick her up. She really loves going to CTTC shows and different outings. She is 88 and has cactus all over her backyard

I have a large succulent garden but have only given my sulcata elephant food. Jade, Crassula ovata, is related to this plant which goes by the name, elephant food. Strange name but the plant is cheap, loves full sun, and grows really fast! There is a variegated form with redder stems and yellow petals but it grows more slowly.
