Hi everyone, not sure whether this is an issue or not. These couple of days I found my sulcata tried to bite the edge of his shell. There’s no change in his enclosure temperature/humidity. He lives alone. I also didn’t found any visible wound. Has anyone ever encountered this before? Is it normal?

Here’s the video

Aw welcome to the forum!! Adorable baby!🥰

I don’t suppose whilst you’re here you’d mind including a bit of information on how they’re kept? It’s so handy with new members! Any photos of your full set up would be great! Don’t worry if you can’t answer everything🙂

What are your temperatures like? Ie basking area?(directly under the bulb) overall day temps? Night temps?

What kind of heating&lighting are you using? Packaging pics are handy!

What kind of indoor uv?

What are you using for substrate and how are your humidity levels?

Any additional photos/info would be nice to see😊

I think it is like they are feeling what it feels like for the first time. Like babies getting a taste of their own fingers? The tortoise is discovering the world every day at that age and their mouth is just one way to get familiar with things
