Very happy Dozer is doing fine.
Will the metal plates be removed or will Dozer have to stay away from magnets :)

Good question! I believe once fully healed they will come off but we will find out more when we go pick her up.

Our vet just called again and said she's been up "motoring around the ward" just like before the surgery. She's peed but has been uninterested in food so far. If things continue in this direction we'll be picking her up tonight around 6pm. Pictures of her new bionic shell to come! Thanks everyone!

Great that it went well! The picture of her in the recovery room with the STONE is awesome. Hope she did not wake up and get a shock when she saw it sleeping right beside her. Guess you kept it, right? I would have - but that's me. Look forward to her further progress! All the very best.

She's home! Thank you all so much for all of your positive energy! She's still got a lot of recovering to do -healing from the surgery and still fighting off sepsis - but she's proven she's a fighter and we're going to be by her side the entire journey.

7669564F-0D4C-4B4A-80F5-0D5E6E7E1188.jpeg Unfortunately!! Dozer update: please keep her in your thoughts - she seems to have taken a turn downhill. She's blowing bubbles out of her nose and squeaking when she breathes. She's heading back to the hospital right now.

Hopefully it's remnants of the anesthesia, like we get phlegm after intubation. I have no idea...just really hoping! Bless sweet Dozer!

Hope it all turns out fine for you and Dozer. I think everything will be fine. Hard to believe a respiratory infection would come up that quickly.

I am coming late to this party. I went from, "Oh my g*d that's huge!", to happy that she was doing so well, to now feeling worried. How is she doing?

Sheesh! Poor tortoise can't catch a break. Let's hope the antibiotics do the trick.

Fingers crossed that it’s just remnants of the big operation. I’m sure your temps are good....just triple check!

    Good luck

Sorry for the late Dozer update: life has been stressful and crazy and most of my time since she's gotten home has been spent watching her like a hawk and trying to get her temperature and humidity levels correct in her temporary enclosure. She came home around noon today after her stay overnight at Cornell. So as far as her diagnosis and prognosis we just aren't sure right now. The vet said that the bubbles coming from her mouth and nose could be caused by many things: the sepsis could be effecting her lungs, it could be caused by being on her back for so long during surgery, fluid could have gotten into her respiratory system when they were flushing her out to close up from surgery, she could have an upper respiratory infection from regurgitating earlier this week or just from stress. It's really just a wait and see what happens at this point. She got some new antibiotics added to her other meds and now we just hope everything starts working and she gets better. Since she's been home she's had moments where she seemed relatively back to herself and eating well and then times when she lays under her basking light with bubbles streaming from her nose and mouth. Please just keep sending positive thoughts her way..she is a fighter but can use all the help she can get. Thank you all so much!

She's got two very worried brothers watching over her today.

The lights might be up too high. Do you have a lazer temperature thingey? Point it at her shell and see what the temp. reads. Because she's recovering from surgery, she probably should be kept on the warm side, like about 85F or 90F or so.
