Sulcata cage

Here is my baby sulcata's cage.
1 CHE
1 UVA + UVB lamp that gets to 100 degrees F
screen (just cut and used from a screen door)
A terra cotta plant dish
A little place for him to hide
Cuttlebones laying around.
Coco coir bedding

His cage is very plain and simple and I'm just wondering what else I should add. any suggestions?
Also, he hasn't grown very much since I got him and I'm wondering why so.

I would suggest that you try to make your enclosure more of a close to chamber.did your container come with a lid? If so cut holes in the lid just slightly smaller than the fixtures, lion the edge with tinfoil and lay the light directly on it. Keep the substrate moist but not soggy. are you using a mercury vapor bulb or a coil bulb? The coil types have been shown to cause I problems in baby tortoises. The MVB provides light and UVB. You can also add plants to add to the humidity and give the baby somewhere to hide. check out the care sheet under the sulcata section, it will give you all the information you need. I would like to see more plants in there to give the baby a more secure feeling. Also, the light and emitter may be up too high to be reaching the correct temperatures at ground level.

Thank you!!! Yes it did, that's a good idea. I was afraid the lid would get melted by the heat so I didn't try to use it. Thanks for telling me!!!!

What kinds of plants should I put in there?

You can get a spider plant and put it right in there. They sometimes eat the leaves but that's alright.
