Sulcata colors?

Hello everyone,

I am new to this forum and I have two young Sulcatas with 8 inch long shells. They are very dark in color and I often see different/lighter colored Sulcatas. Is there a reason for this? Thanks!

Hello and welcome.

New growth comes in dark and fades in the sun over time.

If anyone hasn't told you yet, they should never be housed in pairs. They should each have their own enclosure. At 8", they will be ready to move outside full time in spring here in our warm climate. I'm just a little south of you in Santa Clarita. Here is a great way to house them and have them share a box:

This way, you only have to heat one box instead of two. This box style is also very efficient and costs very little to heat on our cold winter nights.
