Upgraded Johnnys enclosure! Was a father daughter project that turned out great. Was difficult getting inside though
Super heavy!!!
Takes up the whole room besides the closet which has our BP tank in it. This will be the last enclosure being built for Johnny for he will be transitioning outside next cause he is such a big boy. We threw a tarp in the bottom of it and loaded it with substrate. Keep in mind this was a year ago. Old picture. We have been off the forum for a while cause of a move so I have alot to catch up on here. So the hide u see (black tub) is no longer there cause he too big to fit. We ended up getting a mudflap and it drapes down on that left side for a nesting area for him. And on the right side is a rock garden for a different texture. Sadly alot of his enrichment has decreased since he just eats and demolishes everything. Big boulder rocks are placed throughout which he moves around all the time. I do keep 4 different balls in there for him to play with. Other than that we take him out and let him explore out of the enclosure including taking him outside. The water dish is a lot of hassle though. Strenuous to lift in and out to clean and refill considering he dirties it up so quick. Anyways we are very proud of it. Love our little guy so much. Now to start treating the yard so we can start on outside home.

Aw bless him!🥰I can see you’re running a humidifier into the enclosure? Personally I’d ditch that and have a look at the reply I left on your other thread, humidifiers can be problematic unfortunately, they don’t really maintain the humidity properly, they just temporarily boost the level by getting the surface wet, the evaporation effect can cause temperature fluctuations and it’s not ideal for them to be breathing in the water droplets.

A thick damp substrate layer with a closed chamber set up style is definitely the safest most efficient way.

I’m kind of curious on your lighting set up, I can see most your domes are light emitting, are they all basking? Or are some just leds for ambient lighting? Do you run any ceramic heating?🐢💚

Welcome back!

If you haven't removed the stones from the water dish, it would be good to do. They take up too much room that your tortoise could use.

Don't ever allow your tortoise to roam the floors of your house. It is just too dangerous.

One light is a t8. One is a basking for 103. 2 of them are the che bulbs. Another is a just a uvb. Both che bulbs are on thermastats.

What distance is the T8 bulb? They are weaker than the newer T5 style bulbs, and laying it on top of the mesh will diminish the UVB output even further. @Alex and the Redfoot can probably explain this better.

Ah cool thanks for answering! I was just curious😊

If you have the t5 Arcadia, I’d actually consider ditching whatever the other uvb bulb is, you’re good with just the one👍perhaps you could put an led in there instead for some ambient lighting🐢💚
