I have read other threads on ehat substrate to use for my 3 yr old sulcata. However I thought if I could give more info I could get a more upfront option. Its a large enclosure open top. I am bout to clean it out and I wants to go with a new substrate cause even with misting the coco coir is just to dusty. But I dont want him to eat any little pieces of bark also. I understand the coco coir helps with the humidity especially it being open top but I daily make it rain in there lol and he gets soaks once a week. Large enclosure with lot of lights. Please help me figure out a good game plan. Im stressing too hard on this. Thought about doing bottom layer of the coco coir in corners then top layer of bark that way when I poor water in corners it will soak that layer up for humidity? Idk yall. Just please keep in mind it costs ALOT to fill this enclosure up with substrate
Lol thank u!

To save cost it might be worth doing a thick coir base with the bark on top(he may take curiosity nibbles at first if it’s new to him, but place food on a big enough slab to avoid him accidentally ingesting it) it depends what orchid bark costs where you are, it might even work out cheaper to do just the bark. Both can maintain humidity, but I will say if you’re aiming for higher(something your guy would benefit from at his size) it’d be great if you could make some sort of covering, even if it’s only partial, perhaps you’ll find some ideas in here? It would definitely help maintain your humidity for you, you’d be probably be pouring less🐢💚
