Hi I’m new to the forum and the tortoise community. I adopted a 3-4 year old Sulcata. The previous owner had him in a glass enclosure for majority of its life. He has some pyramiding, but my main concern is his significant underbite. It’s so prominent that he is unable to fully close his mouth. He also has a little trouble eating grass and leaves. What do you all recommend? I’ve done research suggesting trimming beaks down with a file or using a nail cutter. It looks like the underbite has deformed into a “U” shape and I’m afraid if I file it down it will cause more problems. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If your in doubt go to a vet or find an experienced reptile shop that can advise and help. Self serve could do more damage however important to get checked as it can impact diet as difficult to eat.... whilst your there get claws checked and trimmed.
