This sure is a pretty species. How old is this one? I can hardly wait to see the finished product.

That growth looks fantastic.

How are you housing and caring for this one? Lights, temps, humidity, enclosure, etc?

This one (all youngsters) are soaked every day. They are fed Mazuri, Marion Zoologic, Spring Mix.
They were outside 3 times a week during the Summer all day.
Now they are kept in a 60" x 36" x 17" tub.
Halogen 100W spot light, T5.0HO UV bulb.
I spray down the Coco Soft every couple of day.
I have never been a fan of a closed Chamber system. I like to be able to reach in whenever I need to for my tortoises. Instead of moving all that plastic **** out of the way all the time.

Any idea what the ambient humidity in the room is?

What UV numbers are you getting from the 5.0 HO bulbs?

Right now, about 35%. In a month or so, I will run 2 humidifiers 24 hours a day to keep it at that level. Normally in the winter, the room they are housed in will drop to 15% because of the dry heat.

Just had this one scoped to determine the sex. Good news for me, this one is a Male. Definitely a keeper. I will add him to my 2.3 group of subadults once big enough. There are 9 others that will be available once I sort out who is who. There are multiple males and females to choose from. Any interest, you can P.M. me and I can get pics and pricing based on the tortoise(s) interested in. The range should be somewhere between 1400-3000$ each.

That's great news it's a male, just goes to show you having this species sexed is a must for any accuracy of sex. If you really want a pair, sexed animals is the only way to be sure!

Not for sale. Anyway, CITES 1 excludes all sales of any listed species outside the country the animal resides in.

Lucky for me , I was hoping for male for that reason, if it had turned out to be female, I would have sold her.

Why would you sell if it was a female?

I have 3 females already and don't need another. I only have 2 males, so he ends up being a great addition to the group.

Fat fingers
Being male he can pass on his genes with many females unlike the lady's who can only lay their own eggs.
