Swollen Soft Tissues

Hi all,
The soft skin around Coagi's legs is swollen. The vet was not available today, but I have an appointment for Monday at 10 am. I navigated around the site a little and found nothing too conclusive on what may be causing this other than a bacterial infection or protozoan infestation. I'll keep you posted on what the vet says. Eating and active this morning, wish I could get into the vet sooner! Until then, any thoughts?

Hmmm, I dont have redfoots but that doesnt look bad to me at all, my sulcata has a little pudge their also, has he recently been putting on some grams? seems mine will pudge up a little then his shell will have a little growth spert.

Where are you seeing swelling? If you are talking about the skin pooching out that is in between the limbs and the shell, that is normal in animals who are not underweight, IME.

Doesn't look like swelling to me. Looks more like fat. I think your little guy is quite well fed.

This is reassuring, thanks all! I guess I hadn't noticed in previously and it seemed like a sudden change. My other (and larger) RF does not show this same "excess". Perhaps I need to cut back on the feeding a bit? I may still go through with the vet visit as a check up can't hurt anyway.

Sometimes this type of swelling is due to water retention, which might be kidney problems. But I don't see anything that I would worry about in your pictures.

I wouldn't cut back, unless your tortoises are so fat that they can't draw themselves into their own shells. Otherwise, a little pudge on a tortoise is a good thing.

I'm guessing the kidney issues result in a much more exaggerated swelling? Given Coagi's behavior is unchanged and all of your reassurances, I'm not too concerned yet.

They're still capable of fully withdrawing into their shells, so I'll keep things rolling as they are, thanks!
