I'm sure its ok. The pictured baby MIGHT be female, hence the tiny tail.

Ok the new one we got today is stressed out so I'm not going to mess with her at all but she's the one with the tail and she is temp sexed female.

I think that it is probably too young to tell and that when it gets older you will be able to find out if you have a female or a male. Your tortoise's tail might grow and change (I would imagine) as it develops more, then you would be able to know what it is. In the meantime just keep an eye on it and if it continues to concern you then take it to a vet. If any of this advice is incorrect someone will let you know, but from everything I have read, that would be the conclusion I have come to. Someone, please verify this. Thanks :)

Well both Remi and the new sully are temp sexed to be females ( they incubate them at a certain temp to make sure most of the clutch turns out female). I was just hoping Remis didn't get bit off or something, I've had her for 2mths.

So it is supposed to be a female, okay. I was not sure if you knew what it was. From the picture, the tail does not look like it has been harmed. It looks like it is just small. Maybe you can post another picture and see if more people chime in. Maybe a little bit more clear so we can get a good look at the tail. It is a little hard to see your area of concern. Good Luck!:)

Thanks :) I'm sure I'm just over worried, I spend way to much time with my baby, people think I'm crazy they say "it's just a tortoise" and I say yeah and your dog is "just a dog"

LOL! I say the same thing. I much prefer my tortoise to anybody's dog or cat;)

I get some looks when I tell people I get someone to watch her while I work.
