I am going to change my new hatchling's water bowl to a plant sauce (the thing under the pot to catch the water). I was looking at getting a terra cotta one, I was also thinking of get one for him to eat off of. Is the terra cotta ok? I have used terra cotta in turtle tanks but wanted to check about him off of it before I did it. Thanks

It would be ok, except that the water eventually seeps out of it unless it's painted or glazed on the outside. You can get the same plant saucer in plastic. You can look in Lowe's or Home Depot in the rocks and bricks department and find a nice-sized flat rock to make your feeding station.

I like the terracotta saucers. They don't all drain the same rate. Mine hold water for a few days, which is fine, because I need to change it often anyway.

Are there any types of rocks/stones I should not use for feeding stations?
