Neat lil guy' ....again a splitty from same female who has " done so " in the past.....and oddly enough neither parents have splits. ... :rolleyes: more note taking for research paper on genetics eh? ;)

Splitty means the tortoise has scutes that are split. Each little puzzle piece of the top of the shell is a scute, when their is abnormalities in the scute they are called split scutes.

Thank you ... for the comp's :shy:...... It is a passion no doubt , and did I mention a lot of work? ...:p

The term " splitty" .... is a nick name for a split scute.....or the typical pattern of broken symmetrical scutes.....
Why I’m very interested in this ...most " very limited" research ..this happened because of higher temps during incubation. Well for 2 years now and very good record keeping , along with pictures ...I can present a good debate this " high temp theory" is not so accurate , and most likely be more of a genetic trait.
*but .....no mood for debates ... < grin> ....
anyhow thanks again ... glad ya like the babies ....
