In early spring the midwest we have morel mushrooms ( Morchella esculentoides) sprouting on the warm humid days. And of course Titan found the first one of the season. Am sure the protein content is too high for tortoises; so I took it away after he'd gotten a small bite. But it lead to me finding enough for a very delicious human treat. But now I have to look carefully before letting him outside in yard; as not all mushrooms are safe for humans; and am sure deadly for tortoises.IMG_3356 (2).JPG

I hate mushrooms but we have a huge morrel harvest here in Alaska and they're not too bad once you fry em up in some butter ;)

Titan looks great!

I will take any you don't want. I love mushrooms
Most likely the human edible ones won't hurt him. It's not a year long meal. It's temporary and in the wild they would take advantage of whatever pops up. The inedible ones, yes I would worry more about them.
