Yup, Franklin is a Russian tortoise alrighty.

I think that since you found him tossed away in the garbage, we can assume he hasn't had the best care in the world. It might be a very good idea to put Franklin in a warm tub of water and let him sit there for about a half hour. Don't make it too deep.

Franklin is a nice looking Russian! How is she/he doing since you rescued him/her? And be sure to ask as many questions as u need to, we r all here 2 help! :):)

Yes, he is a nice looking Russian. Glad you were able to rescue him from the landfill, what a terrible journey that would have been. (If he even would have made it that far).

Keep us posted! Good thing you soaked him, he probably needs that every day for a week then 2-3x per week. He is probably dehydrated.
Make sure the area under the basking bulb is good and warm, about 95F. However, he should also be able to get to a cool side, about 70F. They usually don't need heat at night unless your house is <60F

Welcome Theo....... Nice save. The shell actually looks very good. Now, (s)he can get on with a good life. Don't be afraid to ask questions.
