I've been reaserching alot lately about 2 different type of tortoise. Mediterranean tortoises mainly Russian, Hermanns and Greek. And south american tortoises mainly redfoots. I live in a slightly colder climate (cold winters) and I know that I would be able to keep all of these types of torts just fine but the redfoot would not be able to get out as much. I'm in love with the redfoots coloring although I hear russians hermanns and greeks all have awesome personalitys. What type do I pick??

lol um...! russians are a very hardy species, esp if you live in a colder climate, but any one of those torts are great bc you can keep them inside during the winter. however i have a greek tula and last winter i couldn't find her for 4 days, and i started to get really worried because we have hard wood floors and we like our house COLD in the winter, and on the 4th day i was getting my daughter's leapfrog "computer" out from behind the tv and there she was! sitting underneath all the cords of my cable box right next to the hot air, looking at me like "yes? what's all the ruckus?" and warm to the touch! so i think any one you named will be perfectly fine in a cold climate! we live in oklahoma and i'm trying to talk my mom into getting a red foot, i think she would really like one, and we have 50/50 cold and warm weather.

ok, thanks, i know my thoughts are a bit scrambled. I positive that my family would like a redfoot but i'm concerned that i wouldn't be able to provide the proper humidity or let it outside enough.
