This poor thing is supposed to be a ______ , but I'm just not sure. I won't tell you what the owner thinks it is until I get some of your feedback...

Looks like a Russian. Poor guy was definitely not taken care of well. I hope someone can steer the owner in the right direction for proper care and husbandry.

Take care,
Jeff Port

Looks like a CB Russian that didn't get much humidity, no sunshine (UVB) and too much food.

Wow that's pretty bad that she thinks it's a Sulcata. It is a cute little Russians though. Tell her good luck with it maybe you can give her a care sheet. :D They sure do have an appetite don't they? :D

I guess russian too, but that's one of the worse cases I've seen on a Russian. I'm very curious about the conditions that led to that shell. Any way to find out?

No. He isn't someone I know personally, beyond just trying to help him understand what he has and why is is not doing well. He thinks it is a perfectly healthy 2-3 month old sulcata.... Doh!

I agree it looks like a badly pyramided russian, and they are one of the ones you usually don't see it in.

Isn't that sad, when today we have so much information available to us, and it would be so easy to learn how to take care of an animal, that he should look like that? Even if a person doesn't have a computer, they could go to a library to look things up.

It looks like the guy was taken advantage of by a pet store. They sold it as a young sullie, probably knowing full well what they had was a poorly raised russian. Sadly, some folks see pryamiding, and think it must be what certain torts are supposed to look like. Hopfully that will change over time.
