This is the tortoise corral I built a couple weekends ago.

We used two 8 foot lengths of 1 3/8" by 1 3/8" furring strips from Home Depot.

I don't have a work shop so we set up on the courtyard lawn.

These are the bottom and top frames.

One completed frame.

Add four columns to give it the height.

The chicken wire was staked to the lawn for cutting.

An escapee!!

Nail on the chicken wire.

Screw on the shade-maker.

Some shots of the completed corral.

Does russian tortoise dig a lot? I want to make something similar to yours but don't know if my Greek can dig his way out.

I hate to be picky :)P) but that's not chicken wire, it's hardware cloth!

Good job! Looks like a fairly easy project for us DIY-challenged folks!

Ahahaha! Made me laugh out loud when I saw the caption "An escapee!!" and the cute little dude. Nice jail cell for the "Escapee" btw. :)

Russians are great diggers, but some Greeks (and Hermann's) are no slouchs, either!

All of us who worship at the altars of Lowes/Home Depot/Ace Hardware... :p

Great design, but I'd suggest adding spikes to the bottoms of the four corners, to further eliminate escapes...over the years, I've had some pretty ambitious escape-artist torts!

Great idea Terry. I was thinking I'd add some eye hooks and use tent stakes to secure it. The weight alone isn't enough to keep em in!
