Hi! The last few days I had noticed my tortoise was limping a little on her back foot. I checked the foot and it looked like on of the scales on the bottom was protruding I kept an eye on it and yesterday I noticed it had fallen off completely. I looked online and it recommended cleaning it with iodine and then putting a non pain relieving antibiotic ointment over it. Any suggestions? I’m also wondering if her nails are getting too long and if that may be causing discomfort I’ll attach a photo of the nails and the part where the scale fell off. TIA

Don't worry about the nails. Leopards have long nails. It's natural.

Far as the scale goes, that's pretty much natural too. She may have snagged it on something sharp. Best you can do is clean it daily and put a little antibiotic ointment on it while it heals.
