Hello everyone, I have a Sukada tortoise, but it seems to have red eyes recently, and it always sticks its neck into its shell and has a long moan. This is very different. Can someone tell me why? Thank you very much indeed.
As he is having respitory symptoms, try to keep his temperatures over at least 27 C, if anyways possible over 29 C. The warmer temperatures will help him fight any possible infection.Thank you very much for your responses.Actually, it's not my tortoise. It's my brother's. He thinks his tortoises are fine, just a lack of water. This is an eight-year-old tortoise that lives indoors at about 23 degrees.
The owner won't give any more information, and that's all I know. The tortoise drank a lot of water and was much better than yesterday. But I think he moans a lot more than before, and he's not as lively as before. I can't see him all the time, but I want to help this tortoise as much as I can.
What do you think causes the red eyes? Eye infection? Irritation?Sounds to me like this is a male and he's putting out his penis and moaning. Next time it happens get down and try to see under him what's going on.
This is a sulcata. It needs to be living outdoors in a large enclosure with a heated night box. The temperature inside the night box this time of year should be around 29-30C day and night. 23C is much too cool and this can make them sick.Hello everyone, I have a Sukada tortoise, but it seems to have red eyes recently, and it always sticks its neck into its shell and has a long moan.
