Hi I’m new to this forum and found a tortoise in a field, I’m led to believe the owner got bored with it.
Can someone tell me what kind of tortoise it is ?

Looks like it might be a marginated tortoise. Can we see a picture of the plastron (bottom shell)?

I agree with Yvonne. It does look like a Marginated Tortoise.

Curious to learn where "Bucks" is located. Do you mean the county in PA?

Whatever it is, it's not native if you do not live in its native area. So the first thing to do is to try and find it's family. Call local rescues, vets and advertise on local neighborhood forums. Then if it's not claimed, then its yours to keep.

Finding a tortoise in a field is rare. I expect it is an escapee. I suggest you try to find the owner by going to the local vet and checking if the tortoise is chipped and they can also be aware in case someone enquires. If your on the nextdoor app post a msg but no picture the owner if they come forward must provide details and a picture.Found notices on lamp posts and local and corner shops may help. Tortoise are tough to keep so they need correct set up and husbandry inc heat, light enclosure, diet, water, substrate etc... they are fun and a great investment of time but in our cold climate they need care. As a tortoise owner I would be devastated to loose speedy so please try to find the owner.
