Tortoise jumping

hi can anyone help please I have a Herman tortoise he's very active but today when chilling under light he's jumping like he's been teasered very concerned.

A small tortoise mimics adult 'fighting' behaviour when he thinks he's being threatened. So if he wants to make you think he's pretty tough and you'd better move on, he'll make a quick lunge at your hand. That's about all the 'jumping' they're capable of. The sometimes walk right off the edge of something high like the top of their hiding place, but it's not really a jump, more they just walk right off the edge.

If you'll give us a better description of the action you're asking about we'll be better able to give you a good answer.

Please post pics of your tort as well as his enclosure. And keep in mind that torts do NOT like change. Therefore, they take time to adapt. This MAY be the case with your tort.

Thank you for u reply I had my tortoise over 6yrs he lives out the garden and comes in at night it's like he knows the time and walks to the door he very happy tortoise.

Well, in that case, I guess the answer would have to be no, tortoises can't jump.

I witnessed mine jumping like as if scared the other day and then he rub his eye. I think he has some dirt on his lid and when it fell it started him. He rubbed his eye and went right back to eating. Don't think it was anything but just him being startled
