Hi everyone,

I have a baby Hermanns tortoise that I got about two weeks ago now. His poops were great for the first 3-4 days I had him. Then, he didn’t poop for almost a week. He had a really nasty poop in his water dish today. I’ll attach a picture.
We saw the vet last week just for a look over & they said he looks great.
He’s been eating bok choy, dandelion leaves, Dino kale, and some of the tortoise safe weeds I have outside. I’ve added some butter lettuce too but not too much.
I soak him daily for about 30 minutes. He was doing the urate thing but no poop.

The humidity stays between 70-90. His basking area is around 98 degrees and temps stay in the 80s during the day and drop during the night. He does have a cool/warm side.
The only issue Ive had was that my UVB broke & it took 5 days to get a new one. :( It’s here now and it’s on. It’s the Arcadia brand.

Could this be because he was constipated or is he sick?? I don’t want to lose him!!IMG_7989.jpeg

Other than being on the loose side, it looks like normal digested plant matter, the fact he’s now pooped tells us a blockage or anything like that is unlikely, has his appetite and activity remained the same?🐢💚

He has been eating but he never finishes his bowl. He’s also always hiding but I figured it was because he’s a baby!

Babies definitely sleep and hide away more than adults, they’d be hiding from predation a lot in the wild being so small. If he’s still eating and being his usual self, I personally wouldn’t worry just yet, keep up with the daily soaks, hopefully he’ll start becoming more regular again now he’s had a clear out lol
