Nope we sure can't . We've seen them before but no one knows why .

Do a search for "squiggly lines". That will show you what I think Mike is talking about.

I'm not sure what you are seeing is the same thing. How is your tortoise housed and what sort of heating and lighting equipment are you using? What substrate and what humidity level?

He is housed in a 40 gallon Rubbermaid tub with a 100 watt mvb bulb over the middle of the enclosure and one 75 watt basking bulb for a basking spot. His substrate is coconut coir. Not sure about humidity levels because the gauge just broke yesterday. But the enclosure is sprayed three times a day and he is soaked once a day.

All that sounds good. I see no obvious explanation for the white patches on the shell.

It doesn't look like hard water stains or the typical squiggly lines.
