I was fortunate enough to purchase my first home which came with a large 18 x 22‘ workshop that was previously used for woodworking. my plan is to slowly convert the workshop into my dream Tortoise building to house all of my animals.
The building is actually two separate units. The first was an 18 x 16‘ building with an addition that was later added on to equal the 18 x 22. They left the original wall separating the two addition and original building and instead added a door. The first step is removing this wall as I would like a large open building for easier access to all species that I keep. As the addition has a lower roof, there needed to be a brace supporting the roof structure when the original wall was removed.
After speaking with a framer, we decided to go with a large wooden beam across the top to allow for an open room. Last week was demolition day of the original wall. I’ll keep updating this thread as construction moves along.
