I just purchased a Reptitherm RHP to install in the new enclosure we are building, but saw that it said not to put it where there is high humidity...since we are building an enclosed enclosure, the humidity will be in the 80s so Im not sure this will work? If we can use it, is it better to mount on side wall or above? I have a Leo Tort hatchling. Thanks!

I mounted mine in a closed chamber above at 22 inches and it gives me 85 degrees at tortoise height
And the RHP is ok with the humidity? The instructions say to keep away from humidity so thats why I'm unsure...thanks!

I think they have to say that for insurance reasons. These things are made to put into humid enclosures. That is all they are ever used for.

I've been using RHPs in humid enclosures for years with ZERO issues. The only time I ever had a problem is when an underground enclosure got flooded and the RHP was literally submerged. It worked fine again after I let it dry out in the sun...

Can you provide a link or good pictures of what you are referring to? As far as I know, I think you are talking about a heat mat? I know Reptitherm makes lots of heat mats for reptiles but no Radiant Heat Panels that I know of. The connection to a heat mat may be an issue with condensation, depending upon the type.

The pictures all went away when tinypic shut down. It was a thread here for years.

Yes, that is a heat mat, not a radiant heat panel. I would not put that in an enclosure. For a very large tortoise, I will use a good heat mat designed for keeping livestock like pigs warm - like a Kane heat mat. INstalled in an outdoor night box.

For indoor enclosures, I use CHE's or a Radiant heat panel like this one :
