Here's my set up. It's 14 1/2 inches from the Kane heat mat

I don't know if it can burn them. But being a chicken brooder my best guess would that it won't burn them. At this height he will not come in contact with it.

I'll try for the third time to add a picture. Not sure what I'm doing wrong lately lol.

Thank you for sending the info & pics. It's very helpful! Your set up looks great. Where did you get the chains to hold up the brooder and are they easy to make longer or shorter if needed?

I think I got the chains from HD. It's pretty easy to make them different lengths.
