Hi everyone,
I’ve been looking into how much a yearling leopard tortoise should weigh again and I’m having some concerns. My babcocki leopard tortoise Sumo is allegedly 1 year and 6 months old but he is only 131 grams. Everywhere I’ve been looking has been saying a yearling should weigh like 300 grams. When I got Sumo in June 2024 ( about 3 months ago) he weighed 86 grams so yes there has been quite some growth (45 grams) but I can’t help but be worried because I have been through a similar situation to this before so I have a lot paranoia around how much Sumo is fed daily and weighs. Also he is 4.5 inches long and 4.88 inches wide (I’m not sure I’m measuring the width right). He is very active I see him in different areas of his 6x3 feet enclosure multiple times a day and eats at least two large meals daily with as much variety as I can get my hands on. If anyone has any advice on this or if his weight could be normal and I’m just overly concerned please let me know! This little guy is seriously my whole life <3

Because you got him.at an older age then newer hatchling, it's hard to know how he was raised before you got him. Likely not in the right way, so may have delayed his growth.
Be sure you have him set up the way this forum recommends. Closed chamber with 80% humidity. Temps never lower than 80 day and night with basking of 95-100.
Use a tube flourescent for uvb and incandescent flood bulb for basking. Not mercury, halogen of spot bulbs.
Ceramic heat emitter for any added heat needed and night heat
Try to feed natural foods if possible, like grape leaf, hibiscus, mulberry leaf, cactus, dandelion.
If grocery greens are your only choice then add soaked mazuri, and food toppers from KapidoloFarms.com
Soak daily for another 6-12 months then it can be cut back.
