Tortoises and sound

Isn't there any research that has been done on tortoise hearing? Everything I've seen posted is anecdotal.
My wife is convinced that our desert torts can hear, but I can't be sure.

I believe that it's all conflicting information.

You must have misunderstood me. I meant that there is a lot of conflicting info about the issue: "DO TORTS HEAR?"
