At roughly 4.5 months (we arbitrarily made his birthday 4/15 since all we know is that he was hatched in April), Trogdor weighs 97g. Little fatty will probably be over 100 next week! I don't know if that's big for a redfoot his age, but it seems like a milestone to look forward to!
Awesome photo

Weigh and measurement day:
106g
8.6cm

I think I've been duped and this is a Galapogas tort in a redfoot costume. Anything to say about this, @Tropical Torts?

I took Trogdor to the lot across the street for some sun and exercise. It turns out he's scared of open spaces and basically clung to me and followed me around as fast as his little legs could carry him. We've had a heat wave and the grass was dried out and crunchy. After about ten minutes, I brought the poor little guy back in. He is now recovering from his torture with a snack.

Another brief outdoor excursion. Troggy was less anxious this time and did some exploring. He followed me a lot, but did seem more interested and less frantic. Go Trogdor the Burninator!

I'm sooooo enjoying your Trogdor photos. He is burninating that enclosure up!

Thanks! I'm on vacation now and missing him. He's in good hands with our friends visiting the house to hang out with all our pets, but I miss our routines and his grumpy little face!

Home from Santa Fe last night, and Trogdor was doing fine (as were all the pets). Took him across the street to explore the grassy lot today and just get him used to being around me again. He's feeling a bit shy, though he did follow me around the lot. Tomorrow is weigh day.

A certain little fatty has gained 33g and 1cm since 8/17! Troggy is now 119g and 9cm long at about 5 months old.

Sorry these photos are so dark--I accidentally bumped the settings ring on my camera while I was lowering it into the enclosure for these shots. Oh well.

Troggy weighed in at 134g today. He's growing so fast! It's starting to get too cool here to let him spend time outdoors in the evenings during the week, so I've been doing his soaks and feeding him under his MVB to make sure he's getting enough UV exposure.

He continues to be a bold and adventurous little guy!

I forgot to update on Thursday (AKA Trogdor weight day) but he was 141g. He is roughly the size of my palm now. Getting big!

I think it's it's beyond awesome that you named your tort Trogdor! One of my old high school instructors has a tattoo of Trogdor.

@meech008 The name had to reference a dinosaur or dragon. GoT references are too common these days. We are both huge nerds, so Trogdor the Burninator won by unanimous decision as soon as we thought of it!

We still haven't built the thatched roof cottage for him, but I'm hoping his outdoor enclosure will have one.

Awesome story, pics and especially habitat. Very impressive.

Thanks for sharing. Did you get him from a member here? Looks like a healthy happy animal. Congratulations.

Thanks! My partner built the enclosure, and Troggy came from a member: @Tropical Torts . I don't see him post very frequently, but he has a good reputation and he was really great to buy from. Troggy has been a very active, hungry little guy.

Weigh day! Just about 6 months, 152g. Fat and sassy. Will measure him next week, which will be close to his estimated actual six month hatchiversary.

Some shots of Troggy enjoying his little ecosystem. It's come alive these last few months: first their were some gnats, which I was concerned were going to take over. Then I saw some small spiders appear. Then centipedes, slugs, and red wigglers.

The gnats, which were everywhere, are now few and far between. I have to imagine all this fauna hitched in on plants and fruits, but who knows? Anyway, we seem to have struck a balance and I've got a happy tort, so there's that.

Looks great! Nice work! My guys are getting big and they just destroy their pretty enclosure LOL. So now I'm discovering which plants are more deeply rooted and less likely to pull up.

So far, he just uses the decorative stuff as hideouts, but otherwise (after an initial taste-test of each new plant) leaves them alone. The weeds he eats when they're still pretty tender little sprouts, but I reseed every week or two to make sure he's got plenty to eat. I'm sure he'll eventually become a force of destruction, but I've been lucky so far!
