Hello, still in the planning stages before getting ( hopefully adopting a subadult male marginated) and this my current idea for dig escape proofing an outdoor habitat. 14 inch metal edging sunk in the ground. Any tips or advice on what you all do or recommend. 8887.jpg

Marginated tortoises are not known for digging. I wouldn't put anything down. Just make opaque walls and make sure no light is showing under the walls. Also, make the enclosure very large and put lots of furniture in it. Logs, large rocks, plants and shrubs, hides, etc... The more interesting you make it, the less likely the tortoise will be to test the walls and boundaries.

Agree with Tom on this, our marginateds don't dig much at all, we have their perimeter buried about 4 inches and they have never made any attempts to get under that (16" wall height that is buried 4", they can't get over 12"). Keep visual barriers, plants, and other cage furniture in there to break up the lines of sight and you shouldn't have any problems.
