So, I recently changed my turtles substrate from reptibark (before I joined this forum, I'd never heard any differently in books, pet store, vet, etc to get better substrate) to topsoil/peat moss, added some spaghnum moss and a few leaves from outdoors and he loves it.
He is way more active than before.
My humidity is way up as well, due to the moss. (Is there a certain level to try and keep it at for boxies?)

I also got him to eat some greens which I'm happy about, he only tried a little so hopefully he eats more.
I am about to build him a bigger home (3x5 ish) with a ramp to go up to another level.

He's also climbing on top of his house, which I don't like, but I watched him do it a couple times and there is no risk of him tipping over when going off the other side.

Will post pics of the DIY/upgrade!

Here are the diy pics of Tate's new turtle enclosure :tort::

I used a kitchen cabinet my brother had left over from building his house. Really big and added a second level with a ramp. I still have it put a lip/barrier where the slate (basking and eating area) is but I put his hide and rocks there so if he decided to climb down that way (which he has already) he won't tip over.

Paint tray as a water dish because he's too big for his porcelain bowl (they grow up so fast:()
Going to get some leaf litter (when it stop raining) and fake plants because I can't keep the real ones alive.

Also, I'm looking for a uvb tube light bulb/fixture to put in the enclosure but I can't find any that I could just screw to the wall of the enclosure without having to but a housing for the bulb.

Any suggestions where to look?

Anything else you guys think I should throw in?

You can look at places like Home Depot for different kinds of fixtures for the UV bulb. You could just lay it across the top also.
