You can make yourself totally neurotic by weighing daily.

Seriously, weigh no more than once a week. Fortnightly is plenty. And then make sure you weigh at roughly the same time of day each time for consistency.

1 gram /day is that what my little ones actually also gains in weight.
I think that is o.k.
When our torts grow bigger and can eat more, they will gain more weight in one day.
It should slowly increase.

I had the same concern because while soaking my 2 year old sulcata yesterday, she excreted approximately a teaspoons of a white substance into the water. So i did some googling lol. this is the answer I found:

" Tortoises also produce urine and urates. Urine is the liquid portion stored in the urinary bladder. Urine contains waste products and toxins that are filtered from the bloodstream. Reptiles also have one more type of excretion product, called urates or uric acid. This is the end product of protein digestion and is also stored in the urinary bladder as a creamy, off-white pasty semi-solid. In reptiles, uric acid is cleared from the bloodstream by the kidneys. When the tortoise urinates, it will pass the liquid urine and the semi-solid urates at the same time. A tortoise may urinate and defecate at the same time, which may leave urate deposits on the fecal material. This will make the feces appear as if it is white or off-white.That is most likely what you are seeing."

every morning just before the soak; its just a quick stop to the scale to weigh it. Titan is very docile and never darts off the scale; or resists when I handle for soaking. I weigh again before returning to enclosure; because after urinating and dedicating; he drops 3 to 5 grams. Now that hes living in proper housing; temps and humidity; its been exciting to watch a continuing weight gain on a daily basis; of 1-3 grams. Now that his world looks like something on Star Trek; I've come to call him my "science experiment". And in science we keep daily and complete as possible records. :p
