Friends of mine have just found this tortoise.

I'm no expect but the shell doesn't look great. They can get him to me but my set up is for a Russian horsfield.

Can anyone tell me what this tortoise is so I can help as best I can? They're going to put the feelers out for the owners but in the meantime they have no equipment to keep a tortoise healthy

Please do not put this tortoise with your Russian tortoise.

I don't know what it is, other than his beak is very overgrown. I'll need more pictures to be able to tell what species it is. I'm leaning towards Greek, though.

The sunken eyes say he's very dehydrated.

I second that. Please don't put this tort with yours. The risk that one will make the other sick is too high. Also, Russians can be very aggressive and I suspect yours would waste no time in telling this one to go away. The results are likely to be bloody.

This tort needs some good long soaks in warm water - at least 30 minutes every morning.

It looks like another type of Testudo, so food and temperatures need to be roughly the same as for a Russian. Just don't put them together!
