I have an 8' long by 4't closed enclosure for my tort. I need to get a new uvb light, since her enclosure is so long, should I get two of the lights since the longest one I can find is 42" at 54 watts or just get one of them is sufficient enough? I would be getting the

Hello!
You need UVB lamp only over basking area. So one 24 or 39W should be sufficient. Don't buy a ReptiZoo lamp. Get Arcadia ProT5 Desert 12% or ZooMed Reptisun 10.0 (check that you have distance about 20" from the lamp to substrate). Also you may try ExoTerra T5 (not T8) lamps (first tests show that they are fine, but no info on UV output degradation yet).

Ok, I see now, that you have a redfooted. You still provide shaded and bright lit areas on the enclosure, so you can place UVB lamp near bright ambient light.

Alternative is a heavily planted enclosure so you can have an artificial "forest canopy" and grassland areas. Then you will need a lot of light and can place UVB lamp(s) all over the enclosure and use linking cables. Since UVB is additive, you will need a Solarmeter to correctly position the lamps.

I agree with Alex. Dont get the Reptizoo brand.

Any length will work.

Remember that the UV lamp should only be on for a few hours mid day. You'll need ambient lighting for the rest of the time.

My tortoise has an 8*4 enclosure with 24" UVB lamp (Arcadia LumenIZE brand). It works perfectly for her needs.

I've used REPTIZOO T5s over my Chameleons for years. They've been totally problem free. But I do agree that Arcadia is most likely superior.
If you've already purchased the Reptizoo, you'll be ok.
